Thanks to Mark Newman author of Sooper Yooper

On Tuesday April 24th the 6th grade science classes had this wonderful author speak about his book, Sooper Yooper.  Mark’s presentation was fast -paced and entertaining.  He told us how he became a writer and how he collaborated with his best friend, Mark Heckman to write a book that would help educate young people about the invasive species that threaten the Great Lakes.

Mark also showed us samples  and pictures of common aquatic invasive species and explained how they got to our Great Lakes.  We have order forms if you would like to order his book or you may find more information at his site Sooper Yooper.com

Farms Raises Money for the Red Cross

The Farms students and staff worked together during our 3 week Change Challenge to raise money for the Livingston County American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund.  With everyone’s help we raised $1194.59.  Mr. Anderson’s class raised the most followed by Ms. D’Arcy’s class.  They won a pizza party for their fabulous efforts.

The Leadership Team organized the fundraiser and so they presented the check to the Red Cross Workers who came to school with their Emergency Vehicle.  The students got to learn all about how their donations help the effort.

Thank you Farms student and staff for your generosity.

Lock-in is a lot of fun!

The Lock-in held Friday, January 20th was a huge success.  The kids had fun with all the activities which included:  dodge ball, volleyball, basketball, karaoke, Just Dance Wii, face painting, board games, movies, a friendship bracelet craft, the nail salon, and the new addition, the Minute-to-Win-it games.  Of course the pizza and pop were a hit as well.  All that activity builds up an appetite. Overall, students and volunteers all had a great time.

What did you like the best?  Is there an activity you would like to see added?  What do you think?

Happy Holidays!

Everyone here at Farms would like to offer you best wishes for a happy holiday season and a joyous New Year filled with only good things.   Enjoy your break and we’ll see you next year.

Gleaner’s Food Drive is a Success!

Thank you to all the students at Farms who brought in canned goods for the Gleaner’s Food Bank food drive.  We collected over 1800 pounds of food.   Mr. Thacker, Mr. Parker, and Mr. Anderson’s classes collected the most and because of that they each get an hour a play time in the gym.

Recycle your telephone books

We are collecting telephone books for recycling.  Bring your books to the dumpster located in the front parking lot at Farms.  By recycling we are keeping all these books out of our landfills.   In addition, if we collect more than any other school competing we can win $400 for our school.    Anyone can put their phone books in this dumpster as we are the only collection site for all of  Hartland.  Clean out those cupboards, drawers, and closets and bring your old phone books to Farms Intermediate School.  Last year we collected tons of books.  Let’s do it again. Thanks

Check out our new Clubs & Activity page

We’ve added a Clubs & Activity page to our blog.  Take a look and see if there is something there that interests you.  We’ll add more information as it becomes available.

Great job Farms students and staff.

We had a great time at our first Lock-in.  There was a lot to do such as: dodge ball, basketball, volleyball, face painting, nail painting, “RockBand” on the Wii, karaoke, “Just Dance 2″ on the Wii, the computer lab was open, and there was a movie room too.  To top it off we had pizza and pop.  Mrs. Lewis, one of our teachers, also made over 200 cupcakes.  We couldn’t have had more fun.  Check out the pictures on the Photo page to see how much fun we had.
